Mega Hurtz!

Not your average marker.

With the SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle competition coming up next month (can't believe it's March already) this project from Louisville, Colorado-based Chris Rogers seems appropriate - meet Mega Hurtz, the paintball robot.

Seeing this thing in action brings me back to my paintball days - I can just picture the high school version of myself cowering behind an obstacle with my $20 WalMart brand marker getting absolutely shelled by some guy with a high-end paintball gun. Oh, memories. The Mega Hurtz is essentially a 4-wheel drive RC car outfitted with steel-plated armor, custom made optics, and a remote controlled paintball gun. The whole thing weighs 280 pounds and is powerful enough to drag a human. This would make one heck of a platform for the AVC!

Speaking of the AVC, it's not too late to sign up your team and start designing your robot. The AVC is on April 23rd, which gives you just a bit less than two months to complete your design. If you don't want to enter a robot, but would like to attend, please register via our EventBrite page - it's free and will help us plan this thing! Lastly, we have set up group rates for AVC attendees at two Boulder-area hotels. One is the Courtyard Marriott in Longmont - follow this link to make your reservation (a King-sized bed for $80/night). The other hotel is the Best Western Boulder Inn located in South-ish Boulder. The rate is $84 for a room with a king bed. To reserve a room at the Best Western, call 1-800-233-8469 and use the reference code "SparkFun."

Make sure to make any reservations 30 days prior to the event to lock-in the discounted rate! Hope to see you all there!
