Our favorite FPGAs just received a massive upgrade!
Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week we are adding the brand new Alchitry V2 products to the SparkFun catalog! These are some of our favorite FPGA boards and seeing development boards like the AU and Cu recieve major face lifts and strong ecosystem to support them is a huge treat! Let's take a closer look!

The Alchitry Au V2 is the "gold" standard for FPGA development boards and it's possibly one of the strongest boards of its type on the market. FPGAs, or Field-Programmable Gate Arrays, are an advanced development board type for engineers and hobbyists alike to experience the next step in programming with electronics. The Au continues the trend of more affordable and increasingly powerful FPGA boards arriving each year. This board is a fantastic starting point into the world of FPGAs and the heart of your next project.
If you are not needing a lot of power to start your FPGA adventure, or are looking for a more economical option, the Alchitry Cu V2 FPGA Development Board might be the perfect option for you! The Alchitry Cu is a "lighter" FPGA version than the Alchitry Au but still offers something completely unique. FPGAs, or Field-Programmable Gate Arrays, are an advanced development board type for engineers and hobbyists alike to experience the next step in programming with electronics. The Cu truly exemplifies the trend of more affordable and increasingly powerful FPGA boards arriving each year. This board is a fantastic starting point into the world of FPGAs and the heart of your next project.
The Alchitry Br V2 in your go-to prototyping Element for Alchitry FPGA. This board breaks out all the signal pins on the Alchitry headers to 0.1in. easy to solder holes.
Because the stack height on the new boards is only 4mm, the Br V2 wide version is recommended for most uses so you don't need to worry about how far solder joints hang below the board. The holes above the USB port have very little clearance underneath.
The Alchitry Io Element Board V2 is the perfect way to get your feet wet with digital design. The Io features four 7-segment LEDs, five momentary push buttons, 24 basic LEDs, and 24 DIP switches that all lend themselves to fantastic beginner tutorials that will walk you through all the basics of FPGAs.
The Alchitry Hd V2 board adds two micro HDMI ports to your Alchitry Au! Each port is configurable as a source or sink via solder jumpers. The board haves a 5V boost converter and 5V<->3.3V IO level shifters for the I2C interfaces and hot plug signals on the HDMI ports.
Need to get a lot of data in or out of your design? Look no further than the Alchitry Ft V2! The Ft features the FT600Q which is capable of up to 200MB/s (that's bytes not bits).
Meanwhile, the Alchitry Ft+ V2 features the FT601Q which doubles that to 400MB/s at the cost of 18 more IO pins.
Use the new Alchitry V2 boards with your old V1 add-on boards with this V2 -> V1 adapter. It has the new style connectors on the bottom and the old style on the top.
Give your FPGA a little breathing room with the Alchitry Sp. This board adds 5.6mm of extra space between stacked boards making room for an included 25m x 25mm x 5mm heatsink.
Keep your board extra cool with the Alchitry Fn! This board features a 3cm x 3cm x 1cm blower style fan that forces fresh cool air over the FPGA. It also comes with an oversized 25m x 25mm x 5mm heatsink to attach to the FPGA.
Protect your Alchitry board by adding these stylish standoffs! The bolts protrude about 2mm below the board which is just further than the lowest part on the bottom of the Au or Cu.
This is a set of four 2x14 and two 2x6 female headers with 0.1in.-spaced pins for the Alchitry Br Wide V2 Board. These line up exactly with all the broken out holes in the Br prototyping area to make it easy to jump wires to a breadboard or other temporary connections.
