New Product Friday: Design-O-Mite!

We're back with even more new products.

Hello everyone! I don't want to bum you out, but this will be the last New Product Post of the year, so enjoy it. But don't worry, we'll still have tons of new products for 2014. But for now, here's your last batch of the year.

Be sure to check out the tutorials for the LilyPad Design Kit to give you a better idea of what can be done with the kit.

Last week we announced Actobotics, and the Robotics 101 video series. This week we have episode 2, which is Angular Motion. Learn about motors, wheels, and more.

Now that we have the videos out of the way, let's check out the products for this week.

The LilyPad Design Kit (LDK) is a great way to get started with e-textiles. The LDK includes everything you need to complete six simple experiments that will teach you how to sew basic circuits, light LEDs, create interactive designs, and more. You don't need any previous sewing or electronics experience to use this kit. Our tutorials walk you through everything you need to know.

Need to measure the amount of light? The TSL2561 sensor breakout does just that. It measure light output in lux over an I2C interface. Check out the hookup guide for more information and example code.

Breadboards are great, but once everything is working, it can be a bit of a pain to make the design more permanent. That's where the solder-able breadboard comes in handy. It's the same form factor as a breadboard and has the same connections. You can use it to prototype and make a more permanent version of your design.

The HUB-ee Arduino Shield makes it easy to connect up a pair of HUB-ee wheels to an Arduino Uno or Leonardo board. You can power two wheels and get full sensor feedback via their quadrature encoder sensors. It comes as an easy-to-solder kit.

We have a new version of the 100MHz scope. This new version has a 7" screen and a faster sampling rate.

As I've mentioned before in previous posts, we sometimes get mis-shipments. This week we have some white 7-segment displays that have a different pinout than our standard ones. The new ones have a single row of pins instead of two. These don't work with our breakout boards, so we're selling them off cheap. Get them while they last.

Lastly, we have a batch of our 20x4 character LCD that had minor screen damage. They were packaged improperly and ended up with some slight scuffs on the front. They still work, but have minor cosmetic issues. We'd hate to just throw them away, so get them cheap while they last.

That's all I have for this week. Be sure to check back next week for more new products. Thanks for watching and reading, see you next year!
