Friday Product Post: 10 Years of LilyPad!
10 years of our favorite purple e-textiles!
Hello, and welcome to a momentous Friday Product Post. Today marks a huge milestone for us here at SparkFun Electronics --- on the sixth of October, 2007, we released the first LilyPad board, making today the official 10th anniversary of our LilyPad product line! We are very proud to celebrate a full decade of our sewable electronics in the maker community.
Today, we are happy to release a brand-new LilyPad ProtoSnap, open a new portal for all things LilyPad and permanently lower prices on the majority of our LilyPad ecosystem. It is a pretty big day for us, so let's get started!
Purple has never looked so good!

The LilyPad ProtoSnap Plus is a sewable electronics prototyping board that you can use to explore circuits and programming, then break apart to make an interactive fabric or wearable project. Programming the ProtoSnap Plus is easy with the free Arduino software you’ll need to reprogram the LilyPad USB Plus at its center. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to write and upload your own programs to the board, making it do almost anything you want.
Also releasing today is the LilyPad Resource Center, the all-in-one spot for all your LilyPad needs. Learn all about e-textiles and wearables, get tips on e-sewing techniques, browse cool projects for inspiration, build your own project using an online tutorial and explore in-depth each LilyPad component.
We will actually be going into more detail next week with a full blog post about the portal.
Finally today, we have the following products all receiving permanent price reductions. With these reductions, LilyPad is more accessible than ever!
