Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics, and you know what that means? New Products! This week we have a motley crew of electronics and we start off with the new CygLiDAR D2 from Cygbot, a solid-state dual-mode ToF LiDAR sensor. After that we have a new Raspberry Pi hardware kit to better support all of your HATs and pHATs, a new Rain Gauge and mounting arm, and then a new spool of solder wick (yellow). We have a bit to get through today, so lets jump in and take a closer look!

Cygbot’s CygLiDAR D2 is a compact, solid-state dual-mode ToF LiDAR sensor capable of generating both 2D range maps and 3D point cloud data. With no moving parts, the D2 offers high durability in vibration-prone or harsh indoor environments. Its lightweight design and wide field of view make it well-suited for integration into space-constrained systems such as drones, AMRs, or industrial automation platforms.
The CygLiDAR D2 features a 120° horizontal field of view in both 2D and 3D modes and a 65° vertical field of view for 3D data acquisition. The 2D mode provides a detection range of up to 8 m and operates at a frame rate of 20 Hz, while the 3D mode offers a range of up to 2 m using Dynamic Range Mode (DRM) and operates at 10 Hz. 2D angular resolution is 0.75°, and 3D depth resolution is output at 160×60 pixels. Depth accuracy is specified at < ±1%.
Effortlessly mount any standard Pi HAT onto your Raspberry Pi 3, 4, or 5, even with a bulky cooling fan or heat sink installed. This hardware kit provides everything you need for a clean and professional assembly. The tall 2x20 pin female GPIO header lifts your HAT, creating critical clearance over on-board components. Meanwhile, the kit also includes four durable 16mm aluminum hex standoffs and eight M2.5 Philips head machine screws.
A rain gauge, as you may have guessed, measures rainfall. The rain gauge is a self-emptying bucket-type rain gauge which activates a momentary button closure for each 0.011" (0.2794mm) of rain that are collected. The closure of the momentary switch can be measured using interrupt pins or a digital counter. The center conductors of the RJ11 connector are connected to the gauge's switch.
This rain gauge mounting arm, identical to the one included in our Weather Meter Kit, provides a stable and reliable platform for securing your rain gauge. Designed for easy installation on a metal mast or pole, it ensures your sensor is secure, allowing for accurate and consistent rainfall measurements in any weather condition.
Did you know that solder wick, coffee, and our fine, furry friends keep SparkFun running? You can steal someone's diagonal cutters for a minute, but you'd better ask before touching their solder wick. This wick is 1.4mm (0.055") (size #2) wide and 5ft long.
