Choose PoE or Dual-Band Wireless with the ESP32-P4 IoT RedBoards
Two new IoT RedBoards are now available, each featuring the new P4X processor from Espressif!
Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Product Post! We hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween! We're very excited to announce our new products today, because we have two new IoT RedBoards that feature Espressif's ESP32-P4 (specifically using the v3 version, the P4X)! It'll be up to you, however, to choose between a wireless version with an on-board ESP32-C5 co-processor or a wired version via PoE! Following that we have a Lightning Arrester from SparkPNT moving over to the SparkFun catalog.

The SparkFun ESP32-P4 & ESP32-C5 IoT RedBoard is a high-performance development board designed for demanding edge computing and human-machine interfacing (HMI) applications. By pairing the processing power of Espressif's ESP32-P4 with the wireless networking of the ESP32-C5 WROOM module, this RedBoard provides a foundation for custom touch displays, camera integration, and advanced IoT projects that require reliable security features.
At the heart of these boards lies the ESP32-P4NRW32X (or P4X), an upgraded dual-core RISC-V processor running at up to 400MHz for intensive tasks like image and voice processing. The P4X also includes an integrated low-power RISC-V core that runs at up to 40MHz for standby operations, and brings advanced memory subsystems directly to your workbench. Best of all, it boasts 32MB of PSRAM, Direct Memory Access (DMA) controllers, and AI instruction extensions to handle massive datasets without bogging down the system!
Instead of relying on wireless modules, this version of the ESP32-P4 IoT RedBoard integrates a PoE circuit to provide both network connectivity and power through a single cable. The board's MagJack RJ45 connector provides a dedicated 10/100Mbps Ethernet transceiver that handles wired data transmission. Because PoE power delivery is a major safety concern, we've included a built-in 5V/1.8A buck regulator that safely steps down the PoE voltage to power the main board and any connected peripherals.
When properly installed, this Lightning Arrester helps prevent lightning strikes to the antenna from damaging the attached equipment. Additionally, SMA connections allow the arrester to be placed in-line with the antenna cable.
