Don't forget that the AVC is this weekend!
This is going to serve as the final reminder that the SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition - or AVC - is this Saturday, June 16. The event will take place right here at SparkFun headquarters in Boulder, Colo. and is sure to be a good time! Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the first run will take place 9:30 a.m. We expect the competition to run until around 5 p.m..
This will be the fourth year we have held the AVC and we think this will be the biggest year yet. If you want to attend as a spectator, please go to our EventBrite page and register! It's free and will give us a better feel for how many people to expect. We are also going to be hosting a kid-only event, and we ask that if your child(ren) wants to participate to sign up for a youth ticket (also, free!).
Just as a note, we are experiencing some pretty bad wildfires in Colorado right now. The actual fires are far away, but the smoke has moved into the Boulder valley pretty heavily. So just be warned, if you have bad asthma or generally don't like smoke, you might not want to attend. Depending on the winds, it could be completely clear (and hopefully the fires will be more under control by then), but we wanted to let everyone know!
This year we are planning on ramping up our live-streaming video coverage, so if you can't attend, be sure to stop by the website to check out live AVC action! In addition to the robotics action, there will be live music, food, and prizes. It will undoubtedly be the highlight of the summer! Hope to see you this weekend!
