The new Pi Zero W has made its way to SparkFun, along with everything you need to connect it up!
Hello and happy Friday! We are very pleased to announce that we are now carrying the Raspberry Pi Zero W, as well as a whole slew of add-on parts to get you set up and started! On top of an enclosure and cables, we've also made a simple kit with every part you need in one box. Alright, let's take a closer look at what we have available this week.
Plenty of features at a ridiculously low price!
The Raspberry Pi Zero W can be a bit tricky to set up with its unique power and cable requirements --- that's where this kit comes in. The SparkFun Raspberry Pi Zero W Basic Kit provides you with everything you need to get started with the newest Pi, all without breaking the bank or causing great difficulty. Inside each kit you will find a Raspberry Pi Zero W with a fully programmed NOOBS card, Mini HDMI and USB OTG cables, and a high-quality wall adapter.
Is all you need just the board? The Raspberry Pi Zero W is still the Pi you know and love, but at a largely reduced size of only 65mm long by 30mm wide and at a very economical price. With the addition of wireless LAN and Bluetooth(R), the Raspberry Pi Zero W is ideal for making embedded Internet of Things (IoT) projects. The Pi Zero W has been designed to be as flexible and compact as possible with mini connectors and an unpopulated 40-pin GPIO, allowing you to use only what your project requires.
The Raspberry Pi Zero Case has been designed to fit both the Pi Zero and the Pi Zero W. These official cases consist of several parts and protect the Raspberry Pi Zero from things like rogue wires that might short it out while still allowing full access to the board. Simply snap the RPi into the bottom half of the enclosure, then snap on a desired top. No tools required!
The Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W are both equipped with a smaller CSI (Camera Serial Interface) port than on a full-sized Raspberry Pi board --- luckily, that's where this cable can help! The Raspberry Pi Zero Camera Cable replaces the pre-existing camera module cable, allowing your Zero or Zero W light and imaging capabilities.
This is an inexpensive 3-foot-long HDMI to Mini HDMI Cable that you can use to hook up your Raspberry Pi Zero W to a suitable monitor or TV.
USB On-The-Go (OTG) is a really useful USB specification! This 5-inch-long Female A to Micro-B cable allows some small devices that would usually be unable to act as a host to have limited hosting capabilities! USB OTG is common for things like tablet computers and smartphones in order to allow for USB peripherals like flash drives, keyboards, etc. to be hooked up.
This 2x20 male header has the same number and spacing of pins as a Raspberry Pi but is best served when used in conjunction with the Pi Zero since they come with a space of unpopulated headers.
