We're back with another Thursday New Product Post

We don't have a lot this week, but we've got some fun stuff and had a lot of fun with the video.

Did you ever have to write a lengthy paper for a class in high school (or college) and just couldn't get to the required number of pages? This product post is kinda like that. Chinese new year put a huge delay on a lot of our orders. So, although we have a lot of new products coming, they are delayed, so we just don't have that much coming in lately. We tried our best with what we had this week. So for this week we just decided to have some fun with it rather than postponing a product post until next week.

It was a really fun video to make and it was nice to include more people in it this time. We had a blast. Let's see the small list for this week.

More power is almost always the right solution to any problem. However, more power can also generate more heat. This heatsink and fan combo is great for cooling off those small ICs that get a little too warm. It has a 40mm fan and comes with mounting hardware, thermal paste and a self-adhesive thermal pad.

Synesthetes will love this next product. Have you ever wanted to be able to see sound? Well, with the Colorganic Spectralizer, you can. This kit uses the MSGEQ7 to break up the input from the microphone into 7 different frequency bands and represent their relative volume levels on 7 10mm LEDs. As you can see from the video above, it's a lot of fun. Plus, the kit is a great way to test out your SMD soldering skills.

We have been revamping our XBee selection. The Series 2.5 modules are outdated and we are transitioning over to the newer Series 2 modules. The Series 2.5 and Series 2 have the same hardware, but different firmware. If you are looking to do anything with mesh networks, the new Series 2 is what you need. For anyone looking to do basic serial data links, you would be advised to look at the Series 1 modules. We just got our first batch of the Series 2 2mW modules with wire antenna. For anyone still confused about all the various XBee modules, I highly recommend Robert Faludi's book, Building Wireless Sensor Networks.

We also have a couple more retail products coming out this week. We now have the 16x2 serial LCD in retail packaging. This serial-enabled LCD screen needs only power, ground, and an open serial line and you can display 2 lines of text in no time! The retail packaging even includes the cable harness.

In addition to the serial LCD, we also have an RFID Starter Kit in retail packaging. This kit combines the ID-12, RFID USB Reader, and a couple RFID tags. It's all you need to get started with your next RFID project.

We have a couple new sockets to announce. Everyone loves sockets. We have two new 2mm sockets, one with 7 pins and one with 5 pins. These mate with the RFID modules (ID-12, ID-20, and ID-2) and the RFID reader breakout board. You can of course use these for whatever else you want too.

So, that's all we have for this week. Once we start getting our orders in, we'll have lots more cool stuff. Thanks for reading and we'll see you next week.
