Sights and Sounds of GEO Week 2025

Every year, geo-nerds unite at this 3 day conference in Denver to show off the latest in high-precision technology.

What's up geo-nerds? We are back from our favorite GPS convention for the second year with a recap of the trends and cool things we saw at GEO Week, a massive GPS/GNSS conference in our backyard of Denver.

We saw so many interesting things and met so many inspiring people all geeking out together over what's up and coming with precision, navigation and timing tech. Here's a round up of what our time at GeoWeek looked like!

Disclaimer: these photos are all unaligned and look like they were taken with a potato, our deepest apologies.

Drones/UAVs

I'm not sure if it just that drones look really flashy and futuristic, but again this year UAVs had an outsized presence at the convention. Maybe 1/3 of all the booths were displaying their version of a next-gen drone. Notable companies included RIEGL, WISPR (an odd penchant for omitting vowels at the ends of words?), and BALKO Tech, to name a few.

Lidar/Digital Twins

The next main theme we saw was a huge emphasis on Lidar, which was sometimes included with the drones to offer advanced aerial surveying, mapping and modeling solutions. There were many smaller booths that offered software solutions for mapping and creating digital twins, which I'm awarding the honor of being the buzzword of the convention this year - not that digital twins are anything new, but you couldn't walk 15 feet without seeing the word on a booth next to a monitor showcasing someone's newest Omniverse-esque or BIM-type software.

Surveyors

As we saw last year, there is an 800 pound gorilla in the room at GEO Week when it comes to the world of surveying, and while we won't be talking about them, there are always a small number of smaller companies making great surveying products at a lower price point (we have to throw ourselves in the mix here, too!). It was great to see our friends at Emlid and Bad Elf again, as well as many others - long live the small surveying companies!

Partners

We'd be remiss if we didn't shout out some of our fantastic partners we ran into at GEO Week. We saw Point One, who's Polaris RTK network provides correctional data for many of our customers who need reliable and accurate RTK fix.

Septentrio also had a booth and was showing off many of their partner products. If you weren't already aware, their mosaic-X5 module has been making it's way into our highest-end GNSS products, and they were even able to show a sneak peek of of collaborative product we have coming out very very soon!

And speaking of sneak peeks, future SparkFun partner Fugro was there! We have a really special project coming out with them that was also displayed at the Septentrio booth, and while we can't say more about it right now, we do have a preview image for you as a reward for getting to this point in the blog! Check it out!
