How XRP is Supporting the FIRST Experience with Robotics and STEM Camps, Outreach, and Skill Building

The Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP) is widely adopted by FIRST teams and educators to support learning, outreach, and engagement through camps, classroom experiences, and recruitment efforts, helping bring robotics and STEM skills to more young people.

Many FIRST teams have started using the Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP ) as a cornerstone of learning, outreach, and engagement—supporting camps, classrooms, outreach programs, and recruitment efforts that help teams, educators, and mentors reach more young people, more effectively.

The FIRST community is using XRP to:

  • Run summer and after-school camps like Orbit Odyssey and Mountain Mayhem, where students jump straight into building, coding, and problem-solving

  • Keep skills sharp in the off-season, from design and 3D printing to using sensors, WPILib, and advanced programming

  • Welcome new students through outreach and recruitment, using XRP as a click-together, low-barrier entry point into robotics where students can build an actual robot in one session

  • Create interactive sponsor and community demos that are meaningful and allow teams to quickly showcase technical capabilities such as obstacle avoidance, remote control, or sensor integration

Watch the video below to hear directly from the students and mentors who are using XRP to bring robotics—and FIRST—to more classrooms, camps, and communities than ever before. Check out the "XRP for the FIRST Community" page for more information and resources.
