IoT Video Series: Creating an Interactive Smart Mirror
We built a mirror using the Intel Edison, an LCD, and a gesture sensor.
For today's contribution to our week-long celebration leading up to Edison's birthday, we give you the next installment of the Fellowship of the Things video series, which features (you guessed it) the Intel Edison. In it, Sarah and I put together a smart mirror that you can interact with by simply waving your hand in front of a gesture sensor.
An LCD is placed behind a window in a shadowbox that gives the current time and weather. By swiping your hand in front of the sensor, the information changes to show the hourly forecast. This could be very handy if you are brushing your teeth and want to know if you can ride your bike to work.
We have had a number of requests for tutorials on how to build some of the projects in our IoT series, so we decided to have a guide to building the smart mirror ready to go!
