See the Unseen with Magnetic Imaging

This week, the Magnetic Imaging Tile graduates from SparkX, we have two new displays and a new smart servo motor!

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics. This week we have another SparkX graduate with the Magnetic Imaging Tile! This magneto/imaging sensor fusion features an 8x8 grid of 64 Hall-effect sensors that help you see the unseen world of magnetism. Following that we have two new displays, one is a new portrait version of the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2, while the other is a 2.8in. Pico Display from our friends over at Pimoroni. We end the week with a new smart servo motor from REV Robotics and a CR1632 coin cell battery. We have a lot to get through this week, so let's get to it!

SparkFun Magnetic Imaging Tile - 8x8

SEN-26092
$99.95

Visualize the invisible world of magnetism in real-time! The SparkFun Magnetic Imaging Tile utilizes a dense 8x8 grid of 64 high-sensitivity Hall-effect sensors to create a live, visual representation of magnetic fields. This allows you to "see" the behavior of magnets, the flow of current in wires, and the fields generated by electric motors. While the tile's sensors are highly sensitive, the optimal imaging range is within 1cm to 2cm of the surface, making it perfect for detailed analysis of nearby magnetic sources.

Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 (5” Portrait)

LCD-29427
$61.50

The Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 — 5 inch (Portrait) is a compact multi-touch capacitive touchscreen that connects via the DSI port and draws power from the GPIO, offering plug-and-play simplicity with all compatible Raspberry Pi models except the Zero series. A portrait-oriented panel with 720 × 1280 24-bit RGB resolution, it delivers sharp visuals, five-finger touch support, and anti-glare treatment for clear viewing and responsive input.

Pimoroni Pico Display Pack 2.8"

LCD-29766
$24.95

The Pico Display Pack 2.8” is a 320×240 pixel IPS LCD with an ST7789V driver and a 43.2×57.5 mm active area. It includes four tactile buttons, an RGB LED with cuttable traces for repurposing pins, a Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for I²C devices, and an additional SP/CE connector. The board comes with pre-soldered socket headers for direct attachment to a Raspberry Pi Pico, requiring no soldering if the Pico already has header pins installed. It is compatible with Pico, Pico W, Pico 2, Pico 2 W, and Pimoroni’s Pico LiPo and Pico Plus variants. Software support is available through Pimoroni’s custom MicroPython (PicoGraphics), CircuitPython (DisplayIO), and C/C++ libraries. The board measures about 73×47×9.5 mm, with a usable screen area of 57.5×43.2 mm. The Pico is not included.

REV Robotics Smart Robot Servo

ROB-29919
$34.95

The REV Robotics Smart Robot Servo is a configurable metal-geared servo that can function as a standard angular, custom-limit angular, or continuous-rotation actuator all via simple programming with the optional REV SRS Programmer. The smart servo takes conventional PWM input and adds the ability to set travel limits or unlock continuous spinning, reducing the need for mechanical adapters or permanent modifications. Out of the box it behaves like a 270° positional servo, accepting 500 µs to 2500 µs pulses; the SRS Programmer enables custom angular ranges up to 280°, or conversion to continuous rotation mode.

Coin Cell Battery - 16mm (CR1632)

PRT-29689
$0.95

Last up this week is this small, CR1632 Lithium metal 3V 140mAh button cell battery. Great for powering low power processors or blink an LED for weeks at a time.
