Our four main XRP Beta products have had a successful life, providing a fantastic foundation for our current XRP offerings. Now, it's time to say goodbye to these Beta kits by putting them on a huge sale!
Hello, SparkFans! Today, we're announcing the official retirement of our original Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP) Beta product line. We want to state this as simply and as clearly right up front: this End-of-Life (EOL) notice applies only to the Beta-labeled products. The full production-run XRP line, including the popular XRP Kit, SparkFun XRP Controller, and all other items listed on our XRP Information Page, remains unaffected and will continue to be fully available and supported.
With that clarification out of the way, we're clearing out our remaining inventory of the Beta units. This means it's your last chance to get your hands on these initial versions, and we're making it a special one: all remaining XRP Beta inventory is going on one final sale!

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us on the XRP Beta journey. Your feedback and exciting projects were instrumental in shaping XRP into the robust and accessible platform it is today. You truly helped us refine and enhance the experience for everyone.
What's the Difference?
You might be wondering, "What am I missing out on if I pick up one of these Beta versions instead of the ones that are going to remain supported?" Not as much as you might think! The Beta versions are a fantastic value and share the same core DNA as the production models. Both offer an excellent entry point into the world of robotics.
The production versions incorporate the refinements and upgrades we developed thanks to the feedback we received when the Beta versions were all that was available. The main enhancements in the full production XRP kits are:
- Updated RP2350-Powered Controller: The heart of the production XRP is a controller powered by the newer RP2350 microcontroller. This update introduces performance enhancements and future-proofing, ensuring the platform is ready for whatever comes next and enabling us to expand the kits by introducing different add-on packs tailored to specific situations where you need XRP.
- Upgraded Chassis: Although the fundamental design remains the same, the production chassis incorporates subtle enhancements for improved durability and even easier assembly.
These are, of course, only the two most noticeable changes we made to the XRP, with many others in the finer details and hardware of the kit. It is important to note that we will no longer support the Beta versions of the XRP. That means no future curriculum, software updates, or technical assistance will be provided. We want to be as transparent and up-front about that.
Essentially, the Beta versions are the foundation, and the full-production versions are the polished, optimized result. If you're looking for the absolute best price to get started, the Beta is an incredible deal. If you're looking for the latest features and longest-term support, what you can find on our XRP page is the way to go.
Important XRP Beta End-of-Life Sale Conditions:
- End-of-Life Sale pricing will end when the product is sold out or by December 15, 2025 @ 11:59 p.m. MST, at the latest.
- This is your last opportunity to purchase these Beta units, so inventory is limited. Once we run out of stock, we will not be building any more. Please check the individual product pages for the most up-to-date stock levels.
- This End-of-Life Sale is available for all customer types
- All orders for the specific XRP Beta products listed above, placed after November 11, 2025, will be considered Non-Cancelable and Non-Returnable (NCNR). Please plan your purchases accordingly.
- No rainchecks or backorders are allowed on sale items.
- Orders cannot be combined during the sale.
