Red Vision and OpenCV are now available for RP2350 IoT RedBoards via MicroPython!
Hello everyone and welcome to the final Friday Product Post of the year! Next week is Christmas so we wanted to send 2025 off with a bang. This week, we have three new Red Vision boards that add machine-learning capabilities to your RP2350 IoT RedBoard via OpenCV and MicroPython. We've also made a new version of the popular HMC6343 Digital Compass that is equipped Qwiic connectors! We wrap the week (and the year) with a new 1.5" Qwiic monochrome OLED that provides an easy and efficient way to add a display to your next project. No products require any soldering this week!
Please be aware that Christmas is NEXT WEEK! Some shipping dates to ensure that your package arrives before these days have passed and the deadline for the others will be here before you know it. We've put together a Holiday Shipping 2025 Deadline page to help you with all of these dates! And if you need some help picking out the perfect electronics gift, make sure to check out our Gift Guide Page!
The SparkFun Red Vision Kit for RedBoard includes the Red Vision Touch Display for RedBoard and the Red Vision Camera Board - HM01B0 (Color), adding machine-vision capabilities to the RP2350 RedBoard IoT. This kit includes everything you need to quickly and easily add a camera and touchscreen display to your RedBoard, with no soldering required. These boards let you add live image processing and advanced features, such as object and contour detection, using the SparkFun MicroPython Red Vision Code Package, a MicroPython port of the popular OpenCV image processing library!
Don't need a full kit? The SparkFun Red Vision Touch Display is a comprehensive interface that adds machine vision capabilities to the RP2350 RedBoard IoT. Featuring a vibrant 2.0" capacitive touch LCD with 320x240 resolution, this shield plugs directly into the standard R3 footprint, providing an easy-to-assemble visual interface for your IoT projects without the need for external cabling.
The SparkFun Red Vision Touch Display (Without Display) is a specialized interface board designed for users who want the computer vision capabilities of the Red Vision ecosystem but prefer to output video to a larger external monitor rather than a small onboard screen. By removing the LCD, this board serves as a streamlined bridge, connecting the Red Vision Camera to your RP2350 RedBoard IoT while leaving the high-speed pins accessible for other video solutions.
The SparkFun Qwiic HMC6343 Digital Compass represents the gold standard in compact, easy-to-integrate navigation. While standard magnetometers can be erratic and difficult to calibrate, the HMC6343 is a fully integrated, high-performance electronic compass module that delivers reliable heading data out of the box. By upgrading this top-of-the-line sensor with our solder-free Qwiic system, we’ve made professional-grade navigation accessible for any project!
The SparkFun Qwiic OLED Display offers a sharp, professional user interface in a compact 1.5-inch form factor. Featuring a 128x128-pixel resolution, this monochrome white-on-black display uses Chip-on-Glass (COG) OLED technology, providing a 1:1 aspect ratio and a high-pixel-density canvas ideal for custom graphics and data plotting. Because OLED pixels emit their own light, no bulky backlight is required, resulting in superior image quality and "deeper blacks" compared to traditional LCDs.
