Hello and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! We hope you enjoyed reading about the latest firmware update for our DataLogger IoT boards yesterday. We are excited to provide a new home for the documentation for these products as well as creating resources that you can find on the new DataLogger IoT Info Hub. Today, we are happy to introduce you to three new products, and two new price reductions (Price reductions?! In 2026?) on some of our existing IoT products! We start with a new version of our popular BlueSMiRF v2 board, equipped with a JST-GH, allowing for easy point-to-point Bluetooth® data transmition with our high-precission GNSS/GPS-RTK boards and serial telemetry radios. Following that, we are abundantly aware of the recent price increases to Raspberry Pi 5 products, so we wanted to provide a more economical way to protect them. That's why we now carry the Akasa Pi-5 Pro aluminum enclosure and a seperate mounting cover. Finally, we'll wrap the week on new prices for our existing BlueSMiRF v2 boards!

The SparkFun BlueSMiRF v2 is a highly capable wireless Bluetooth® serial link designed to replace disorganized serial cables. BlueSMiRF acts as a wireless serial UART link, allowing you to easily pair, connect, and transmit data between your TX and RX lines. It seamlessly handles any serial stream from 2400 to 921600 baud, supporting full-duplex transmissions up to 921600 bps. You can even push massive amounts of data through this link, and it will still buffer, transmit, and deliver byte-perfect streams to both radios.
This specific version of the BlueSMiRF v2 replaces standard pins and headers with a 6-pin JST-GH connector. Because it shares the exact same pinout and connector as the SiK Telemetry Radio V3 and the SparkFun LoRaSerial Kit, it can be wired into your system in the exact same manner. However, instead of radio frequency transmission, it bridges your hardware directly to your Bluetooth-enabled devices. For example, you can easily connect the BlueSMiRF v2 to high-precision GNSS breakout boards, including the LG290P, mosaic-G5 P3, ZED-X20P, and LG580P, then stream that location data directly to a Geographic Information System (GIS) app on your phone.
The Akasa Pi-5 Pro is a fanless aluminum case designed for Raspberry Pi systems, providing passive thermal management in a fully enclosed form factor. The chassis is constructed from solid aluminum and functions as a heatsink, drawing heat away from the processor through integrated thermal pads. This design enables silent operation while improving thermal stability under sustained workloads, making it a practical alternative to active cooling solutions.
The VESA Mounting Cover for Akasa Raspberry Pi Cases is a mounting accessory designed to adapt compatible Akasa fanless Raspberry Pi enclosures for VESA mounting. By replacing or supplementing the standard enclosure panel, this cover enables secure attachment to the back of displays or other VESA-compatible surfaces, allowing for a more integrated and space-efficient system layout.

This version of the SparkFun BlueSMiRF v2 is incredibly similar to the version with a JST-GH above, but instead of a pre-soldered connector, this board features Pins that have been broken out to a 1x6 plated-through-hole (PTH) header, ready for your choice of headers or direct soldering.

This specific version of the BlueSMiRF v2 comes equipped with a row of 1x6 male, right-angle headers. Making it ready to plug directly into a female header on your target board, or to drop straight into a breadboard, with zero soldering required.
