Pressing Our Buttons

Ever curious what (almost) every button in our catalogue sounds like? Listen for yourself!

In case you weren't aware, SparkFun carries a lot of buttons, switches, and tactile inputs. Buttons in particular are one of the most ubiquitous components electronics enthusiasts use, and it's no wonder why: they are simple switch mechanisms, which frequently come in handy. The thing about buttons is that which button you end up choosing for your project largely comes down to individual preference and taste since each one has its own feel, its own sound, and its own personality. Obviously, the best part of any button is the satisfyingly tactile "click" it makes, however we are not currently aware of how to transmit that experience over a screen, so we're doing something a little bit different today - we are going to take a listen to each type of button in our catalog that clicks (which is all but three or four of them).

In today's video, we're putting them all to the test. From soft tactile switches to chunky arcade buttons, we're giving each one a few clicks so you can hear the differences for yourself.
