We've updated the 2D Barcode Scanner with the new DE2290D module from DYscan!
Hello everyone and Happy 4th of July weekend! This week we have a single new product for you, but we know it's one that a lot of you may have seen an early peek at over on our Youtube channel (heck, one went viral!). We are happy to release the new version of the popular SparkFun 2D Barcode Scanner! This new breakout features an improved CMOS camera and the ability to scan over 30 barcode symbologies (the datasheet says 50, but we've verified 30)! We thought it would be a treat to release this for anyone looking for something cool this holiday weekend!

The SparkFun 2D Barcode Scanner Breakout v2 upgrades your barcode reading capabilities by integrating the highly capable DE2290D module from DYscan. This version of the Barcode Scanner Breakout upgrades to the DE2290D, which now uses advanced CMOS image recognition technology paired with a 300,000-pixel global shutter camera!
This combination delivers a highly accurate reading precision of 3mil (0.076mm) and decodes an extensive list of 1D and 2D symbologies. The module automatically adjusts its lighting brightness based on the distance to the target, ensuring excellent reading performance whether you are scanning barcodes off printed paper, merchandise packaging, or digital screens.
